Points to note when hiring foreigners
In order for foreigners to work in Japan, it is necessary to have a status of residence that allows them to work.
If an employer hires a foreigner who does not have a status of residence that allows them to work, they will be punished with imprisonment with work for up to 3 years or a fine of up to 3 million yen as a crime of promoting illegal employment.
Foreigners are required to carry their residence card with them at all times, so when hiring foreigners, it is important to directly confirm their residence card when interviewing them.
